Hello! I'm Kim Ridder, a family, senior, couples, and lifestyle photographer based in the beautiful town of Ashland, Nebraska. I was a teacher for Lincoln Public Schools for thirty years, and I will be forever grateful for that chapter of my life. I left the classroom a few years ago to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a full-time photographer.
Photography is so much more than just a job—it’s a way to capture the moments that matter most and turn them into memories you’ll treasure forever. When we work together, my goal is to help you look and feel your very best and, more importantly, have fun and laugh (a lot!) during your session! To me, you’re not just a client—you’re the most essential part of the story I get to tell, and the connection we build is very special to me. I feel honored to say that the people I work with are more than just clients; they become my friends.
I started photography when I was ten with a Kodak Instamatic Point and Shoot I got for Christmas.
get to know me on a personal level
I have two children, Cole, an engineer with Benesch, and Maddie, finishing her degree in psychology. They have been my best models over the years, and have spent many, many, hours in front of my camera.

I have two fur babies- Bert & Mollie. Mollie is my 14-year-old Morky (Maltese, Yorkie mix) and Bert is my 95-pound Bouvier. I also volunteer at HETRA with horses or walking dogs at The Capital Humane Center when I'm not taking photos.

I live on a lake in Ashland and love it when seniors and couples want to come out for a photoshoot!

I am a show choir junkie; it started when my daughter was in show choir at LSW. Even though she is grown, I still attend show choir competitions and sit for hours, even when I don’t know anyone performing.

I keep Sonic in business, buying their Route 44 Diet Cokes with Cherry and pretzels. I also love The Bachelor and The Bachelorette!

I am an overshooter, which is a problem for me but fantastic for you! I always deliver many more pictures than promised!
what makes me different
I love working with clients with fresh ideas for pictures and new photoshoot locations. Last year, I had photoshoots at the farmer’s market, Junkstock, Kansas City, Iron Horse Golf Course, a sunflower field in Valley, Nebraska, and a wake surf boat on Sandy Pointe Lake in Ashland. If you have an idea, hit me up, I’m up for anything!
what makes me different
I promise I will make you feel comfortable and entirely at ease. Believe me, I have the gift and gab and never lack for conversation (I think it’s the teacher in me!) I love meeting new people who will become new friends.
what makes me different
I love looking at a photograph and realizing that much more is hidden within the composition; I LOVE cropping! Cropping a photograph can change a good photo into a fabulous one!

Because I will always be a teacher, I am obsessed with learning. I am constantly taking classes, reading books, and challenging myself by entering photography contests to hone my skills and be the best photographer I can be.
what makes me different
My goal is for you to see YOU in your photos. If you don’t, we will go out as many times as needed so that you are 100% happy with your images.

Kim blessed us by taking both our engagement and wedding photos, and we couldn't be more grateful! Every shoot was so much fun, and it’s truly a joy to work with someone who makes you smile and feel completely comfortable. Plus, as a bonus, Kim is the most dog-friendly photographer, so our whole family, including our fur babies, was able to enjoy the experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer to capture these special moments!
